Maqam Anthology on MikeOuds Forums A member of MikeOuds Forums has compiled a very good book of sheet music for Arabic and Turkish music. All the notations are for Arabic tuning, so you can learn many Turkish pieces on Arabic Oud here.

    Hi Navid,
Here are my favourite Turkish sites. They all use Turkish notation, which suits me as I use Turkish tuning. If you want to play with Arabic tuning, just play the written “A” on your D string.

This is another huge classical music archive, but it helps if you can read Turkish.

    Hope this is helpful.

  2. Fiona

I’d be interested in Persian sheet music thanks!

    1. Navid

Great to hear, thanks for letting us know.

    2. Try this site for Persian music scores: http://notkade.com/ I know the Arabic alphabet, but do not read Farsi. I find this site a bit difficult to navigate for that reason.

  3. I’m also interested in Persian sheet music and could offer some of my own transcriptions.

    1. Navid

Hey that’s awesome. I’m trying to get around to scanning a bunch of my own music from books I have and offer to share it with anyone who requests it, or host it somewhere. I’ll get in touch when I get around to it.

  4. Asha Slater

New Persian Tar player here, also interested in any Persian transcriptions you might have to share. Thanks!

    1. Navid

That’s great, thanks for letting me know.

I’m a cellist not a guitar player. Do you have any really simple sheet music for the Egyptian oud?

    1. Navid

I think the MEMA middle eastern music archive is your best source for simple scores. Link is above.
